Me and Orla go back quite a way...I bought my first Orla Kiely bag in 2002 and was delighted to support an Irish designer. It's safe to say that I have built up quite a collection of bags since then. However, up until about 2 years ago, it was rare enough to see somebody toting an Orla bag but now, well...everybody here in Dublin seems to have one and so I am not so keen on them anymore (that's the etc collection anyway, ie...the vinyl type bags) so now tend to use my "vintage" Orla's that nobody else has (if I use at all).
I also started buying pieces from the Orla clothing collection and have quite a few nice things...I always managed to get these in sales or new on e-bay and even tho some are quite a few years old I still wear them (I've never been into"latest trends") and think that I will be able to wear a lot of these clothes for years to come!!
This post has come about because I was just browsing through the spring/summer 2010
Lookbook on the Orla Kiely website and whilst I didn't much like a lot of the clothes, I definitely like a lot of the bags! It made me think about all the OK stuff I have and how I really need to sort out my wardrobe! I am going to drag all my Orla gear out and have a good old look to remind myself what I actually have...I think I might just do a post on it in fact!
Anyway, here are a few of the bags from her s/s 2010 collection that I am quite fond of...
Love this one but would like to see what other colours are available...
Love both of these babies..
Like the yellow and brown ones here...
Love all the middle row and the one on the bottom right...
And these are all pretty cute too..
I am pretty sure most of what I like is part of the Mainline collection (rather than the etc) and therefore quite a bit more expensive...I suppose that means they won't be quite so prolific tho ;)
PS..will probably do a clear out at the weekend so be prepared for another Orla post in the very near future!
